What happened to Glamoramapuss?

I’m still here and as glamorous as ever! Nothing has changed except the name. People have always had a passionate reaction to the name “Glamoramapuss.” It was as much loved as it was disliked. (Some folks even thought it was a dirty word!) So I have changed my jewelry business to just my own name “Signe.” (pronounced Say-nah) Nothing naughty here, just a good Danish girl.

Basic Jewelry Care

Basic Tips

  • No matter what kind of necklace or bracelet you have it is always best to store it flat, preferably in a protective box.  Hanging jewelry on hooks or over mirrors can weaken the cord or chain over time and may cause kinks or permanent bends in the cord.
  • Do not wear jewelry swimming, bathing or during strenuous activities such as housework or sports.
  • It is best to put your jewelry on last to protect it from hairspray, make up, perfume and other beauty products that may damage stones or metal surfaces.

Silk Cord Necklaces

Silk cord is most commonly used in jewelry for stringing pearls. It is a natural fiber that is very strong but can become weakened if exposed to water. To prevent possible breakage please do not wear silk cord while swimming or bathing. If you wear a silk cord necklace often, it is recommended that you have it looked over once a year and if necessary restrung, to insure that it has a long life.

Caring for Precious Metal Jewelry

To keep your precious metal sparkling keep it in its box/plastic bag when not being worn. (Keeping it sealed in a zip-lock bag is best.). Minimizing its exposure to air slows down the tarnishing process. If it should become tarnished simply polish it with a jewelers polishing cloth.  They can be purchased at most beading supply stores for little cost. It also helps to place a piece of 3M anti-tarnish paper inside of the package.  They can work up to 6 months if kept in a sealed plastic bag.  These are also available at most beading supply stores or online.

How do I know what Size I wear?

All bracelet sizes indicate the interior circumference of the piece. To determine if the size is right for you, I recommend that you measure your wrist. (You may need a friend to assist!) This can simply be done with a tape measure (the kind used in sewing) or by wrapping a string or strip of paper around your wrist, then measure the paper/string with a ruler. You can also measure a bracelet you already own whose fit you like. It is recommended that you purchase a bracelet slightly larger than your wrist size unless you want the piece to fit "snug" like a watch.

Some necklaces and bracelets can be resized depending on the length desired and availability of materials.  It is best to discuss any resizing/custom fitting before purchasing the item as there may be limitations or additional costs involved.

How do you ship the Jewelry?
